Having this same issue ever since tandem of v685 base and v40 motor fws were introduced. So far my observation is the v40+ motor got way stronger and quicker response. In previous base versions the right (subjective) ffb feel was obtainable via combination of ndp+nfr+nin (for dr2.0 i was using 40/7/8-ish). When it comes to v686+ base fw, it seems it's miss-interpreting NFR & NIN settings. Any value higher than 0 would introduce this strange and inconsistent ffb behaviour. All the wheel weight effects, it seems, by design are now indended to work via NDP setting alone. However, it feels very unnatural, as it applies force once there is some movement of wheel already - practically no resistance for slight movements.
To sum it up, I'm now on v40 motor fw (as 41+ aint compatible with pre-v690 base), the latest hub 6 & bme 19, and v680 base ff and driver 356. This gives me the old & consistent ffb feeling w/o menu pullin n s*t, smoother & stronger motor behavior. + FH5 compatibility ās a bonus.
Updated drivers and I am now on 434. My McLaren GT3 V1 failed firmware update and now shows "Steering Wheel not Supported! Please update the Firmware" on the DD1 display, or it shows it as a Formula V2 in the Firmware Updater.
How do I get it to update the firmware as a McLaren GT3?
After installing 4.34, the first time using it I had a Win11 Green screen (like blue screen) hard crash. had 4x more... never had an issue, even had it just booting up twice yesterday and today. 4.29 & 4.33 had no issues. I've uninstalled for now and will revert back.
That's intended. The Standard mode has limited ranges as it's meant for beginners where a too low NDP value for example could cause unexpected oscillations for the new customer. Therefore NDP range is limited down to 25%. If you want to go lower and you know what you do, then you have to use the Advanced mode.
Thank you for the clarification. In my opinion we should be able to set it all the way down with a warning as until now, also there is the auto mode for new users also. The standard mode works very well and is so simple and i see it as a good thing and for some of us "advanced users", makes things way more simple and easy, set and forget and works really well.
Is it right, that the Base starts with set 1 everytime? On older firmwares the base starts with the last used set, now it goes back to one every time the base is started new.
Using a DD1 here without Fanalabs, using the new UI (which is cool imho)
Running v433 and I can’t find the “Map sequential shifter to paddles” option anymore in the software. Did it go away? I am having issues with a couple sims due to this. Normally I check this box to fix, but I’ve checked every menu and it seems gone now.
Just moved to V434(even did the manual firmware flash) and there is no change here... Nothing in settings menu either beyond a toggle to show Shifter or not.
That sounds very weird, as FFB itself didn't change and for most it seems to work normally and fine.
Do you mean Dirt Rally or Dirt Rally 2.0?
Was FanaLab or the driver UI open in the background?
Can you check if the tuning menu settings where as they should be in the moment of the issue?
What did you need to do to get the issue away, re-start the base?
Are you sure the constant force to the side was the hole time while driving or did maybe the last force you had didn't stop after the stage was over and the menu/scoreboard did open?
Can you please describe your issue anyway please, sometimes things sound similar but actually aren't or there is more information we might get from your describing it how you experience it.
It's super difficult to summarize feedback, try to find a way on how to reproduce the issue and get a general idea of what it might be caused by if most people just say "I have the same" or "It's shit and was better before". Therefore please everyone, even if it was mentioned 5 times already, just follow the rules of the first post:
How to report issues:
If you report a driver or firmware issue, please make cross checks:
Update driver and FW separately to isolate an issue and find out if caused by driver OR firmware.
Which driver OR firmware shows the issue
Which driver OR firmware does not show the issue
Check if you can reproduce the issue again if you go back to the version which seems to have caused the issue
Post the answers gathered from the questions above + a short description of the issue including the following info:
Wheel Base Model (product ID): ...
Steering Wheel Model (product ID): ....
Driver Version: ....
Base FW Version: ....
Motor FW Version: ....
Wheel FW Version: ....
FanaLab Version: ....
Driver/FanaLab installed on C: drive or else?
With driver related issues collect log files and zip them from C:\Users\Public\Fanatec Logs
I would like to find out if this is caused by the wheel base firmware or motor firmware update. Therefore I need feedback of people which use old motor firmware with new base firmware or new motor firmware with old base firmware. I'll attach all versions below.
Use the manual update function of the firmware manager by checking the box in the top right of the window.
Make sure to select the correct motor firmware file for the DD you have because there is one for DD1 (incl PS4) and one for DD2.
I mean dirt rally. FanaLab and the driver UI were not open.
Since I do not want to install the new driver and the FW 690 for the time being, I can unfortunately not tell you how the tuning menu settings were during the problem.
After it occurred, it felt like the force was pulling to the left for the whole stage, as I said, at first I thought of a defective front tire.
To fix the problem, I opened the driver UI and ran an FFB test. After that everything worked again until I started another game. With ACC it felt like a filter was active that dampens everything and also makes the steering tough.
I'm running DD2, R300 Podium wheel with 434 driver and Fanalab 1.61.3.
While it's definitely better, the wheel continues to rotate when you pause a game. It doesn't happen as frequently as it did in the past but it does still happen. A couple of times I was driving down a straightaway, hit pause and the wheel rotates to the left. When I'm going thru a turn, @50 percent of the time I pause the game it continues to rotate. In the past it would rotate in the direction you were turning, now it rotates in the opposite direction. IOW: if I'm going thru a left turn and I hit pause, the wheel rotates to the right.
Comments
I went trough all of this a long time ago. You don't need to troubleshoot. I'm not a first time user. The point is that this should be solved already.

p.s. dd2+porsche podimu wheel here.

Hi, when i choose the new standard mode and custom setup, i can't set the [NDP] Natural Damper to 0% the lower it gets is 25%. Why is that? A bug?

This however wont change.

Can not confirm this. When I used SET 2 the last time I used the base then on the next boot it still boots with SET 2.
You have to power the base off through the power button, not through the red E-Stop button of the killswitch in order to get this working.

Try driver 434 ;)
Its available in the Shifter Tab, when Shifter Tab is missing you need to enable it through Settings Tab.
Just moved to V434(even did the manual firmware flash) and there is no change here... Nothing in settings menu either beyond a toggle to show Shifter or not.
The option just no longer exists.
Put your Shifter in sequential mode and the option will appear on your screen
Yep, only available in Sequential Mode.
Ok, now I feel foolish for not trying that! Toggle appears now, thanks!
from 433 to 434 you don't need to manually update again, the FWs are the same, they are only different to the versions before 433
Update works fine when using an older driver?
Please explain in detail what you mean with "shit" because for many others it seems to work perfectly fine.
Make sure to check your tuning menu settings so they are the same as before, also when the issue is happening.
Is FanaLab or the driver UI open in the background?

Please post more detail about what exactly happens, the hardware you have, if you run FanaLab in parallel and in which situations it happens.
Which game?
Is it every time or only sometimes?
Is there something which might influence it happening like a specific situation?
What are the game settings?
Can you please describe your issue anyway please, sometimes things sound similar but actually aren't or there is more information we might get from your describing it how you experience it.
Also mention which products you use.

Hello,
I own a DD1 and the problem occurs with the FW 690 of the steering wheel base.
Base Firmware 689 + Motor Firmware v41 = Issue not happening
Base Firmware 690 + Motor Firmware v41 = Issue happening
Base Firmware 689 + Motor Firmware v42 = Issue not happening
Base Firmware 690 + Motor Firmware v42 = Issue happening
