  • Drift & Rallye Part II: ClubSport Hand Brake
    • So you have to scratch off flies from the side windows of your 4WD rather than the windscreen? Then this is the perfect product for you.

The Fanatec ClubSport Hand Brake features an analog axis and is fully made of metal. The soft foam grip is very ergonomic and you can either connect it to the ClubSport USB adapter or plug it into the ClubSport pedals. If you use it with the pedals it will even be compatible to Forza Motorsport.

The lever can be mounted in two different ways and you can attach it to both sides or at the bottom. (manual video below)

It is available very soon for 99,95 USD / Euro (exc. tax / incl. tax)

  • Drift & Rallye Part I: ClubSport Static Shifter Paddles
    • Drifting and rallye driving demands other techniques than road track racing. The wheel spins faster and steering angles are much bigger.

If you don't want to get confused with shifting when your wheel rim is upside down, you need the ClubSport Static Shifter Paddles. They are also a popular choice in many sport cars like Ferrari.

But as you want to drive F1 games with the Formula rim as well, we made the Static Shifter Paddles with a quick release system so you can mount and unmount them within seconds.

The shifter paddle position can be adjusted in many ways to fit all wheel rim sizes. It is made of fine CNC machined and anodized aluminum and matches perfectly to your wheel base.

On the picture and video you see the optional carbon fiber version of the paddles. The default version is black metal.

Available this summer for 79,95 USD / Euro (excl. tax / incl. tax).

  • Introducing the GT Wheel Rim for your ClubSport Wheel
    • So what about another GT style rim with neutral branding and our modular button system?

The GT rim also shows the possibility to mount any smartphone (not included) on the (optiona) mobile phone holder. There are many free or paid apps available for Android or iPhone and they work with several important PC racing simulations like pCars, iRacing, Assetto Corsa or rFactor 2.

Now the biggest difference to other solutions is the integrated power supply so you can charge your phone and use it in long races.

Rene Rast shows in the video below how it works.

Available this summer for 349,95 Euro / USD (incl. tax / excl. tax)

  • Here comes the Flat1 Wheel Rim for your ClubSport Wheel
    • People are still screaming for more so here comes the FLAT1 wheel rim for the ClubSport Wheel.

      Just
like the Round1 it is a small rim with just 270 mm but this one is
covered with suede leather. We also added some more buttons and a tuning
display. If you compare the last rims we announced you might get a clue
what they all have in common.

Available this summer for 349,95 Euro / USD (incl. tax / excl. tax)

And we are not done yet...

  • Going around in Circles with the new Oval Rim
    • So your favorite style is to always drive in the same direction and slipstream is more important to you than high-tech? Try out the NEW OVAL RIM for your ClubSport Wheel.

It is an authentic 1:1 replica of the original steering wheels and is covered with suede leather. The soft hub cover in the middle can be exchanged against a metal hub cover just like on the Classic rim but in black colour.

The dish is deeper than the Classic but the diameter is the same with 350 mm. That is the same diameter as they have in the NASCAR race cars.

And in order to keep the original design we added just one button. In fact it is an encoder button so you can map 7 functions to it.

It will be available this summer at a price of 349,95 USD / EUR (excl.tax  / incl. tax)

  • Xbox One Compatibility FAQ and Poll
    • We are continuously getting a lot of questions but also complaints
from our customers about the COMPATIBILITY of Xbox 360 wheels to Xbox
One so we decided to make a FAQ and poll about it.

Did Microsoft allow steering wheels (or other input devices) of the first generation Xbox to be compatible to the Xbox 360?

      No

Was there a legal and official way to make Xbox (first generation) wheels fully compatible to Xbox 360 ?

      No

Will it be technically possible to make an adapter to use Xbox 360 peripherals (like steering wheels) on the Xbox One?

      Probably
yes but the effort and complication would be significant. The new
console uses a completely different force feedback communication
protocol, wireless transmission protocol and a different security chip.
The security chip needs to be purchased by the 3rd party manufacturer
from Microsoft and it makes sure that only official licensed products
can be connected to the console. Only if you get the official approval
from Microsoft you will be able to purchase such a security chip for
Xbox One. Besides that, given the high development costs and limited
market it would not be possible to offer it at a cheap price.

Does Microsoft allow the use of Xbox 360 devices to be used on Xbox One?

      So
far no and there is no indication that this will change. This means it
is impossible to make such an adapter. This is the case for any company
and not just us. There are other expensive peripherals like music
instruments for Xbox 360 which also cannot be used anymore.

Did Fanatec plan to make such an adapter or do you rather prefer to sell new wheels?

      Of
course we would have rather made a simple adapter or even just a
firmware update and continue to sell the wheels we have. Instead we now
have to develop something completely new. As other companies were
faster, the chance of losing customers is very high. This is not in our
      interest at all!

Can you make such an adapter without the confirmation of Microsoft and sell it directly or indirectly to your customers?

      Making
a device which cracks the security chip of Microsoft is clearly not
legal and we would immediately destroy the good relationship with
Microsoft. Furthermore we would be sued if we would attempt to sell or
even just support the development of such a device.
      If Microsoft would
allow such an adapter then the whole security chip system would not make
any sense anymore as it would suddenly be an open system and you can
      connect anything to the console.
      This system actually has positive
effects for the consumer as well as it makes sure that all connected
peripherals are tested and work with all games. This is not the case on
      other consoles.

Since when do you know that such an adapter is not possible?

      Microsoft
never confirmed that such an adapter is possible or not and we were
waiting up to now. But given the technical complexity and also the
philosophy of Microsoft, we do not expect any more that such an adapter
will ever come to the market.

Are you working on a new Xbox One wheel
and when will it be released?

We do work on a next generation wheel and
the Xbox One is a key market for us. But at that point we cannot reveal
any further information or give a timeline. If there is any announcement
it will be made here on the blog.

Why did you not release an Xbox One
      wheel at launch?

We would have loved to do so but the 3rd party
peripheral department of Microsoft which authorizes all Xbox peripherals
has limited capacity. Therefore other companies which make much bigger
business with Microsoft than us got this wheel business first. Our
relationship is very good with them but we have to respect that bigger
customers get better service. That is a standard business practice and
there is not much we can do about it.

The only one who can change that
is the Xbox One customer with its’ buying behavior because Microsoft
likes whatever the Xbox user likes and buys.

      PS: PS4 compatibility will
be discussed separately as it is a completely different and independent
      subject

  • The new FORMULA CARBON rim for your ClubSport Wheel
    • It seems that some of you expected a new rim with more buttons and less expensive so what about the new Formula rim with real CARBON fiber?

The functionality is the same as in the Formula rim but the style is completely different. The 3D effect of the Carbon Fiber makes it looks different from every angle. This is pure racing style.

It also comes with exchangeable grips and we plan to offer different colour and material options in future.

Available very soon at a price of USD 249,95 (excl. tax) or € 249,95 (incl VAT)

  • The new CLASSIC Wheel Rim for your ClubSport Wheel
    • We proudly present the NEW RIM for your ClubSport Wheel.

The CLASSIC rim features fine brown leather and polished aluminum and is the most stylish way to steer any classic car. No buttons disturb the nostalgic look so it is a perfect addition to your ClubSport Shifter. Of course it also features a metal quick release system like the other wheel rims.

The diameter is 35 cm and it looks and feels just like a real steering wheel. The metal hub cover made of polished aluminum gives a nice and elegant touch to it.

It sells for 349,95 USD (excl. tax) or 349,95 Euro (incl. VAT) and will be available for sale this summer.

We put a lot of effort into it and I hope you like it. What do you think?

  • Moderators wanted
    • The new forum could be launched at any time now but we need MODERATORS to help us to keep to the discussions clean and organized.

In several simracing communicties out there, there are multiple threads about Fanatec products but the threads are super long and information is very hard to find.
There are always two type of threads:
      1. Anything related how to modify and tune your products
      2. People looking for technical help on some specific problem

My idea is to make searate forum categories for all main products or product categories. So for each product there will be modding discussions and support discussions.

In order to keep a good overview we should avoid that the same issues are discussed in different threads. Therefore each discussion should represent one major issue and in the opening post you should find any helpful information how to solve this issue:
      • Description of the symptoms
      • Photos and videos
      • How to repair or solve
      • Link to drivers/firmware/manual
      • What spare parts are needed
      • And any other info which is needed

In the discussion below the opening post, people can comment if something needs to be changed or if the information was useful.

If your wheel is covered by warranty then you just have to contact our support but when warranty is over then the community can help each other here. We will also do our best to support that because we want our customers to buy our new products because they are better and not because their old wheel cannot be fixed anymore.

So if you like to help us and have experience with communities or moderation, please leave a comment and let me know.

  • Fanatec Webshop Japan is now open
    • It took quite a while to get this done but we are proud to announce that Fanatec is now available in Japan through our own Fanatec webshop.

For this purpose we have founded Endor Japan and set-up logistics in Japan so that we can deliver fast service and communicate in Japanese language.

Up to now the selection is still limited until everything runs smoothly but is planned to have the same product portfolio available in all territories.

What is next? On top of our target list is a subsidary in Brazil and have to warehouse in Hong Kong to deliver to all places we are not represented yet. But considering the long time it took to get to Japan, I will not make any promises when that will happen.

Edit: We are also still planning to have our own canadian warehouse. I did not mention it as this region is already covered. It is an important improvement we have to make.

  • New product selection system
    • Since last week we are running a new system to simplify product selection.

On the main page we are trying to divide into three type of customers:

Go EASY: You will be see all available bundles for your region
Go ADVANCED: This link sends you directly to our reworked configurator
Go PROFESSIONAL: If you know what you want, you get a direct link to all our main products

We also have a new product menu in the top menu but not on this Community page for now. It will give you a quick overview about all our products with pictures, pricing and compatibility.

And finally we have revised the product pages and are now listing all bundles where the product is included along with the new "Configure" button.

What do you think of it and what further improvements would you like to see?

  • Fanatec on next gen consoles
    • A few people are wondering why we are so quiet.

We will not make the mistake again to mention new things too early. We
will announce something new if production is about to start. We are
working on several products for several platforms and every one of our
new products will set a new benchmark as they did in the past.

      We
are also trying hard to protect the investment of our existing customers
by making our current products upwards compatible. But we cannot
confirm that before the final consoles are released.

  • New affiliate program now available
    • We just launched our new affiliate program and this enables you to earn money with us!

      • Put a banner to your racing team website and motivate your team mates to buy from us
      • Use our affiliate banner in your forum signature in whatever forum you are active.
      • Use your connections in your social network and earn money if your friends purchase Fanatec products
      • Are you a modder or cockpit manufacturer? Promote our products together with yours and earn money without having to keep inventory or bother with logistics.

Almost anybody can do that! You don't have to be a dealer or reseller and we want to promote our products together with the community just like we work together on development.

We offer a commission of up to 15% for certain products and our affiliate program might work better because you can only get the products at Fanatec.com so the risk that you promote something but the purchase is being made on a different website with lower price does not exist.

Please note that the system we used on the old website was just an extension and had many technical problems. This time we we are using Post Affiliate Pro which is an independent service provider which makes sure that all clicks are tracked and everything will run smooth and reliable.

If you are interested then please go to our website and check out the terms or register right away.

  • Introducing the ClubSport USB Adapter
    • After getting a lot of inquiries from non-Fanatec customers showing interest in the ClubSport Shifter, we decided to make it compatible to all PC racing games supporting multiple input devices.

Most of the current sims do support multiple devices so you have broad compatibility. As Fanatec wheel owners don't need that, it would have just increased the unit price of the shifter so this adapter solution is the best for both.

But the adapter firmware is upgradeable and with a different firmware you can also operate the following devices through USB:

      • ClubSport Handbrake
      • ClubSport Shifter knob (this is a shifter knob with buttons)
      • CSL Elite Pedals

Future controllers might be supported as well.

  • Xbox One versus PlayStation 4

    • I am currently here at E3 and a lot of things are going on. It is exciting to see a new console generation coming up.

At the moment we still did not get a final confirmation whether our Xbox 360 wheels will work on Xbox One natively (USB) or with an adaper or upgrade kit or not at all. Therefore we cannot promise you anything other than that we are trying to find a solution and if MS allows it then we would certainly support any solution which increases the compatibility of your XBox 360 wheels.

You can be sure that we are working to make our wheels compatible with the next gen consoles or develop solutions which will provide compatibility but at this point it is too early to discuss it.

In any case our wheels will work with GT6 and after playing it, I am quite excited about the improvements of the physics.

      So what is your opinion?

      Xbox One or PS4?

      Forza Motorsport 5 or GT6?

  • CSW review by ISR

    • So after doing some intensive testing, Team ISR published the review of the ClubSport Wheel and both ClubSport rims.

I have to admit that as much as they have tried to break the wheel, I have tried to find something negative on this review but i couldn't (ok ok the fact that we sell the pedals separatly is mostly rather seen as a pro and not a con for many of our customers).

This is an extremely detailed and informative review about all aspects of this product and all features are well covered. The critisizm on the manuals is well taken and we will try to improve. In fact we are already working on a video for the Tuning functions.

      Well done, Darin and Shaun!

  • ClubSport Button Box?
    • As all current projects come to an end and production is about to start (which includes handbrake) we are now ready to work on new projects.

We are working on some rims but there is another item I would like to get your input on.

What should the ultimate button box look like?

      1. How many buttons?
      2. What type?
      3. Special functions?
      4. Programmability
      5. Connection of other peripherals
      6. Compatibility
      7. Size and dimensions
      8. Materials
      9. Price

It would be great to get your input on the points above and we can discuss it. We have some initial ideas but you can still influence the design with your input so please use this chance.

  • ClubSport Shifter is now online
    • We added the ClubSport Shifter(s) and the ClubSport Shifter table clamp to  our webshop and you can enter your email adress if you want to be notified as soon as pre-order will start.

The pre-orders will start as soon as production is running and this will happen very soon. We still need to make some final tests but the raw materials are ordered for the first batch.

We offer the shifter in two flavours:

The regular ClubSport Shifter is H-pattern only and comes with one round knob. It sells for 149,95 €/USD

The ClubSport Shifter  SQ also comes with sequential mode and an additional aluminum knob and costs just 199,95 €/USD.

You can easily mount it to a cockpit or wheel stand but if you mount it on a table you can get the optional ClubSport Shifter table clamp for 29,95 €/USD.

There will be adapters for the ClubSport table clamp and the RennSport Wheel stand at a later point.

The 7th gear is only compatible to the ClubSport wheel at thios point as it requires a firmware change but personally I think the 7th gear is rather a gimmick anyway. A Porsche 911 uses it for fuel saving and other cars with 7 speed gearbox don't have h-pattern shifting so it is unrealistic.

Perhaps somebody comes up with a standalone adapter for the shifters and then you could use all gears with any wheel. Hmmm...maybe not a bad idea...

  • CSS Video
    • Porsche Supercup Champion 2010, 2011 and 2012, René Rast, was trying out the ClubSport Shifter and he honestly liked it. In fact he was here to make a video about the RennSport Cockpit and some other product. The "interview" he gave was somehow taken by coincidence as the camera was still running. ;)

The video also shows the inside of the shifter and you probably get an idea about the complexity of this product. It is all metal of course.

Next week we plan to unveil pricing and put both versions in the shop. The last big issues we found were all sorted out and the shifter now lasts 7 digit shift cycles. We still need to run several tests with external beta testers but we are almost there!

      Greetings from China!

  • CSS feature preview #5
    • This feature of the ClubSport shifter is probably the most anticipated one. We have implemented a proper sequential mode.

It is not a cheap compromise which was requested by the marketing department to fill up the feature list but an authentic sequential mode with strong haptic feedback and the correct movements. The technical effort to do this was huge and it is one of the reasons for the long development time.

It is also not very useful to have such a mode and force the user to use tools and disassemble half of the shifter so we made it easy and added a switch on both sides so you can quickly change between the modes.

I know that you still miss price and an availability date but come on. If a new car appears, the first thing you see are prototype pictures "leak" accidentially. Then the car is shown on official pictures or a car show and what is the very last thing they tell you? ;)

The next teaser will be a video with some shifting action.

  • CSS Feature preview #4
    • What would a ClubSport product without customizing options? Exactly, it would not be worth the ClubSport brand.

Therefore you can easily exchange the shifter knobs and use the style you like. A longer one for sequential fun or a round one which fits well into your hands. carbon, öeather, metal and whatever colour you want.

There will be a few options directly from us but the CSS is compatible to most automotive shifter knobs so the options are almost endless.

What is your favourite style? (Count the left shifter without knob as #1)

  • CSS Feature Preview #3
    • So here is the third unique and innovative feature of our new ClubSport shifter.

Not only has it 7 gears plus a reverse gear, the gears are also arranged just like in the car which has a 7 Speed H-pAttern shifter: The new Porsche 911.

And just like Porsche, we were also concerned about about the shifting performance between 1st and 6th gear because the 7th gear is just for fuel saving and the reverse gear is normally not used on the track unless you end up like Kimi in front of a closed gate.

So the default position is between the 3rd and 4th  gear and in order to change to reverse or 7th you need to push down the stick.

  • CSS Feature preview #2
    • The second feature we will show is the table clamp.

There are almost unlimitless ways to mount the shifter to this clamp from all sides and in any height.

The clamp is made of solid metal and is mounted with two screws. This makes sure it will fit to almost any table out there.

The clamp will also be compatible to your Porsche or CSR shifters. As the ClubSportShifter is too heavyfor the two steel rods it it not recommended to mount it directly to the wheel. We will have an adapter to mount it on the current ClubSport Table Clamp as well.

  • Racedepartment compares the CSW with a modded T500RS

    • Racedepartment has posted a great review about the ClubSort wheel.

Anthony Levene compares our products with the modded T500RS he used up to now.

      His final sentence:

"More power than you could need but refined, classy, less plastic, more brushed metal. "

    • The testing of our ClubSport shifter is going well so it is time to announce the features.

The first function we want to show is the mounting on cockpits.

      image

All four sides have t-slots which allow the insert of t-slot nuts at any position.

You can mount the shifters on all sides but also on the bottom.

      This makes mounting extremely flexible.

  • Australia: All products are available for immediate shipment

    • We are now able to ship all products in Australia with immediate delivery.

Besides the products which were already listed on the website we are now offer some special bundles:

Forza Motorsport CSR Wheel Value Pack

      Porsche 911 GT3 RS V2 Value Pack

They both come with the CSR pedals and sell for 299,95 AUD each (incl. Sales tax)

And in order to avoid the discussion before it even starts. Yes we are aware of the fact that the prices are higher than in the US. Reason for that is, that we have to include sales tax and we have much higher administration and logistic costs in Australia.

  • New driver 152 available UPDATE

    • Here we go with a new driver version for your Windows PC.

The main thing we adressed are some random rumble effects which kept playing after you already left the curbs. This happened in rfactror and Simbin simulations.

Please let me know if this has been fixed with this beta version.

  • We are now taking pre-orders for Formula rim for CSR ELite wheel

    • After several delays we are now happy to start taking orders for the Formula rim for CSR Elite wheel.

We will start production right after Chinese New Year and will bring in the products by airfreight.

The wheel is similar to the Formula rim for the ClubSport base but it is not compatible and has different features.

      • Different colur scheme
      • Different electonics
      • Mounted with 2 screws instead of a QR
      • No rev meter LEDs
      • 2x 4-way joysticks
      • Artificial leather on the grips. Very comfortable and easy to clean

This will be the only optional rim we make for the CSR Elite and the production number is limited.

I am happy that we are finally getting started. It took way too long and I appreciate the patience of all our loyal fans in down under. Thank you.

  • New Services offered for ClubSport Wheel

    • The ClubSport Series is our state-of-the-art product line and our customers can expect to get outstanding service for it.

On top of the great service we already provide we will even offer an enhanced service for all simracers which depend on their product and want to be sure that they always have perfectly working equipment in order to participate in the competitions.

Therefore we will offer the ClubSport base and both wheel rims in version with included Premium Service Pack.

The premium service pack gives you high priority access to our support channels and we guarantee you that we will repair your product within 48 hours on working days. If it takes longer you will get a free replacement unit as loaner until you have your product back. You will get this service throughout the full warranty period.

The PSP is not available as a stand alone product so you have to decide during your purchase if you want to get it or not. You already have a CSW?

All existing customers of the CSW and the rims will get the PSP for free!

The second service we offer is the Maintenance pack. Basically you can send in the ClubSport base and we will make sure it works properly again. We will exchange all parts which can wear out and it makes sure that you have a working wheel long time after the warranty period is over.

Just like a real car, a mechanical unit needs some attention from time to time and we will make sure that you get all spare parts you need to keep the wheel running.

The ClubSport wheel is a long term investment and not a plastic toy which will be thrown away after a few years.

Both services are only available in Europe so far but we will extend it soon to other territories and products.

  • Firmware 757 now available for CSR Elite wheel
    • We have fixed the fan issue on FW 756 and released 757 for the CSR Elite wheel. There is no other change than that.

There are comments that this version works with that game better and the other fw version with the other game.

Force feedback is to a high degree a matter of taste and also highly depends on what the game developers do with it. It is almsot impossible to make a version which is perfect for everybody and every game. We give you a choice so you can decide if you want to keep an older version or go with the latest one.

"Latest" does not automatically mean better for some people and if you are happy with your wheel then I would recommend not to change anything.

Please note that you must follow the the instructions carefully. Installation on Windows 8 will work.

Make sure that you bind your wheel and calibrate the shifter and center position after the firmware update.

Please make sure you use driver version 144 or higher with this firmware.
