Now when Corsair acquired Fanatec can we expect better Xbox support?

Now when Corsair acquired Fanatec can we at least expect that steering wheels will have rev light or gear number display support on the Series X/S consoles?
It is a shame that product has that feature but cannot be used on consoles.

yes but there is a thing. those stuff comes from game developers
you should ask them really.
fanatec still makes the hardware, not the games.
Fanalab is they own thing what is possible control because off drivers what they offer, they not have this kind control at in PlayStation and Xbox
that's where game developers comes and add those features self
you know that you can send xbox to hell and start use PC instead?
This is not entirely true.
Ultimatively yes, it will be up to game developers to implement the Xbox SDK into the games, which was finished by Fanatec last year and was shared with the game devs. AFAIK currently only Forza has implemented this SDK into FM8.
However, atm it is up to Fanatec to implement this new SDK features into the Base Firmwares which is currently being worked on for an expected release either late this or early next year.
So it is a mixed situation where on one side it is up to Fanatec to implement enhanced compatibility into the Firmware but on the other side in the end it will be up to game devs to implement the SDK into the games so the Firmware can output the respective telemetry data to the wheels.
Thanks you for this great answer, this corresponds to my understanding of current situation. After Fanatec implements their part of the job, it is up to developers to implement it for their respective games.
I hope development stays on track and there are no further delays, because really I could not believe when furst bought Xbox wheel that those features were not enabled.
Can you explain situation with SDK and FM8? Does that mean it is possible telemetry to work on FM8 or I am getting something wrong.
In FM8 the Fanatec Xbox SDK is already implemented, but not working yet because the SDK features are not implemented in the Base Firmwares yet. Once the SDK feature are implemented into the Base Firmwares, FM8 will automatically support the enhanced features.
I am wondering if that also adds support to other accessories like the Rally/Endurance Button Module or if those require a separate update? If those require a separate update, should we expect those to be released around the same time?
(Ultimately, can you confirm whether those are safe to buy, or should we wait for an official announcement/support and hold back from buying for now?)
like i understand correctly game sends out telemetry, and fanatec can use that data for any off they steering wheels
Ok, clear, I understand now. Thanks.
Those are great news actually. I just hope everything is on track and no delays are happening.
I hope that is the case, but as they have their own displays, etc., I wouldn't be surprised if those modules got raw (or close to raw) signals too to minimize dataflow and would need decoding implemented on their firmware. (It might be I'm just overly pessimistic waiting 1+year on this and holding back any upgrades for some time now.)
@Maurice
Is the enhancement affect only to led and display or we can also expect better compatibility in the buttons?
From the SDK and Firmware side it's a full enhancement for everything: LEDs, Display, Buttons, Dials, MPS, Switches, Encoders - if the game adds the support as well.
Hi members
Let's hope it will be fixed asap !!!
Also race on xbox ,and have the v2.5x and wrc wheel
Because of these rev light topics i knew before that this isn't supported on xbox
Yesterday i tested my v2.5x on my collegue's ps5
On the same f12020 game !! ,and it was Great to see the rev lights and oled working there,as well as throttle vibration 😁😁
So i don' realy understand why it is a game or developer implement issue ??
When they work on ps5 and not on xbox with the same game
Would Rather think then it's a console implement ???
fanatec does things own way, so they needed write own drivers to the xbox, by default some stuff could be done much sooner already accounting some sources
Okee
Hi Guys. I have a csl DD for Xbox just done update 464 for wheel base and steering wheels. Does this update incorporate fully working LEDs on F1 steering wheel or are we still a wee while away from this being an active feature?
Thanks in advance
Gordy
As nothing was mentioned in the Changelog or on Social Media... No.
It's still on the list to come next year.
Is it still a plan to come early next year or the plan is shifted? Early meaning in Q1 '25
Thats still the plan AFAIK.
The dream sdk xbox.
I think we should first buy a PC or change base.
also because from what I know the SDK must be supported by the games.
And at the moment only Forza Motosport 2023 should work.
Buying a PC is like £5,000 and if I get a new wheel base for PS I need to then get a new wheel.
My Forza Motorsport doesn't seem to to work the LED lights. I tried it last night and still didn't light up.
I believe there's a mod you can buy for the QR that takes the chip out the equation to make the Formula 2.5 fully operational??
Thanks
Gordon
It's December 14, 2024 and I still don't see any fanatec SDK.
It's been a month since the last update
And we still only have a joystick in our hands.
You can't ask for more time from a community that has been waiting for 5 years.
You promised to release everything at the end of this year but we still don't know of any Drivers.
Maybe it's time recently to leave fanatec and go to another company.
Don't consider us second-class customers.
We never promised that a new Firmware with enhanced Xbox features is definitely coming coming this year. We said it is either coming late this or early next year. The SDK btw is finished since over one year and is already shared with game developers who ultimatively need to implement it into their games which, as of right now, only Forza did for FM8 so that game would be the only game where the enhanced features would work anyway once they were implemented into the firmware early next year.
Personally I'm fine with just strength at the moment.
If fanatec does its job with sdk then we can blame the video game companies.
At the moment it is Fanatec that does not increase the SDK so you are the one leaving us without assistance
As I said, the SDK was finished and shared with game developers around September 2023 last year. So there is no work needed on the SDK anymore - its done.
If Forza Motorsport is compatible with the SDK Why do I find myself with a joystick in my hand instead of a steering wheel today?
precisely you just have to implement why not fatw it?
Because the new Xbox SDK features were not added into the Base FIRMWARES yet. Therefore of course the enhanced features of the SDK are not working yet. The implementation into the Base Firmwares was planned for late this or early next year. Apparently it will be early next year.
One of the reasons that developers did not implement those features yet (except FM8) is because they are ultimately not available yet. Even if they have SDK only after firmware support is added we can say that they are fully supported. After that developers would take them more seriously. I mean, here's hoping that would be the case.
Can we expect LSB & RSB to work as standard in other games?
No. Games need to support this on their own by Implementing the Fanatec Xbox SDK. When they dont to that, then nothing of the new enhanced features works in those games.
How can they support LSB & RSB when the output from the wheel itself is LB & RB? Even though the wheel is shipped with LSB & RSB, the firmware converts it to LB & RB.
Load up Xbox Accessories, connect an Xbox Controller and your wheel and it to Xbox Mode. Activate "Test Mode" in the app and then go through all of the buttons on your wheel. LSB & RSB will show up as LB & RB,
The output of the wheel will change when the new SDK features are implemented into the Base Firmwares. However, they only get triggered by games which also implemented the new SDK.
You will see next year.
