Accelerator Pedal of Club Sport V3 suddenly stops working during F1 23 play

PS4 Pro + Fanatec Podium DD + Fanatec Club Sport V3, in use since 2020, equipped with most recent firmware, mechanically all appears sturdy and sound. All hardware clean.

I have been playing F1 23 for two years without problems until recently. Now I have a problem I cannot seem to fix: out of nowhere, I can no longer accelerate. Problem occurs 1 -3 laps into the game, never later, these laps work without any issues, then suddenly, the car no longer accelerates.

What is particularly interesting: with gearbox in Neutral, I can rev the engine, the accelerator seems to work fine. The moment I put a gear in, the engine no longer revs up.

I can run tests of all pedals through the Fanatec software or within the game setting, all fine. No lose cable.

I am quite desparate as I don't know what to do.

    Unlikely to help, but I will mention it anyway.

    Not sure if F1 games support handbrake axis, keyboard button or just doesn't as I don't own those games.

    I have had similar issue with other games that i own, it was a faulty handbrake that was outputing varying amounts of signal percentage 20-100% by itself at random times and with the handbrake coming on whilst racing would slow me down sometimes, not allow me to accelerate at all and other times completely spin me out 180 degrees.

    Also some games you have to invert the handbrake controller settings as it registers as full 100% on otherwise, but that can't be the issue if you do some laps before issue arises.
