Podium Racing Wheel F1 (DD1) completely dead

Hi,

After contacting support because of a shifter problem on a McLaren V2 steering wheel I updated al my hardware as asked by support.

Did this last tuesday and although the shifter problem still excists on the V2 wheel, everything else was working fine. After a short session of F1 I powered off everything as I always.

Today I wanted to have a go again and now the base won't even turn on. No power, no fan, no blips, nothing at all. It's just a dead brick. Coincidence or not (?), the base is just over 2 years old (received it on 15/11/2022).

Power brick seems to be working just fine (green light).

Really discoriging because FANATEC support doesn't do RMA's for the moment and also doesn't want to replace the wheel under warranty (although it's a known product fault and the wheel itself has been used less then 50h and as good as new).

The same with this base, altogether the base has aproximately been used for about 100h and also is as goo as new. Although the 2 years has just passed, I don't think this is the expected lifetime for a product like this so will try to claim my warrenty on the base also.

Attached a movie of the problem.

Any suggestion to help me solve this problem would be appreciated.

Any help about the warrenty claim (Wheel and base) aslo would be appreciated.

EDIT: Just to be clear

miss shift issue was after 455 release, they not been fix that yet.

noone force use the latest drivers or firmware

  • The problem with the McLaren V2 wheel has nothing to do with the miss shift issue introduced after 455. The problem I’m having is a manufacturing issue (using bad and to much glue on the tamper).

Now, that’s not my main problem here. I’m having a dead base after a firmware update. And not a problem that others have experienced. Like you can see on the movie the base is just a dead brick and doesn’t do anything anymore.

yeah, but thing is you are the first one who seems report like this. so not sure its something todo with firmware but more like that base decide go end of his life

Correct. Would be a unfortunate coincidence but still hope its a firmware problem. So maybe they can something do about it.

I didn't shut the base down immediately after the firmware update ( updated all my wheels and did some driving afterwards). So after the update it still worked for about 1h.

If it was a failing base, then that's also very annoying because it's barely used and just over 2 years old (by 1 month).

  • Will wait what customer service is saying. For the moment I still believe in my warranty claim because I didn’t use it that much

  • So my experience so far about the wheel.

No warranty, no RMA because they are in transition and a 10% voucher for a new wheel (why would I if support is lacking?).

If I do want an RMA I need to contact them again (really?) next year.

My experience so far about the DD1 Base.

No reaction, no reaction, no reaction even when mentioning this when speaking to support about the wheel (their answer = wait).

    Happy holidays everyone.

  • hey Ellen
