Handbrake recognised as sequential shifter

Just bought a new handbrake 1.5. Installed it on my rig and plugged it into rear of DD1 handbrake port with supplied cable.
Problem is that fanatec software recognises it as a fanatec sequential shifter.
Is this a known/common problem and is there is a known solution? Failing this, what could the problem be?
Cheers

To add, using latest drivers and firmware on a PC which is in good order.
Probably a stupid question - but you've definitely plugged it into the correct port and not one of the shifter ports? If all is well there then you will have to contact support, it's not a problem I've came across.
At this stage, no such thing as a stupid question. But sadly it is plugged into the correct port.
Further inspection, seems that it isn't recognising the handbrake at all. The sequential shifter confusion came as a result of "shifter via base" showing up in the software. My bad.
Will reinstall driver and firmware. beyond that I am at a loss.
Sounds like DoA. You'll need to contact Fanatec for a replacment.
The handbrake shows up under the pedals menu in the Fanatec control panel if it's hooked up to the wheelbase directly. Took me a while to figure that out, I also thought my handbrake was kaput.
Yes, something odd going on. Worryingly things are now pointing at the handbrake port on the back of the DD1.
Can now see and configure handbrake if I use the pedal/handbrake splitter cable plugged into the pedal port. So not the cable sadly and not the handbrake probably.
I've had the DD1 for nearly 2 years and had never plugged a handbrake into the base before.
I contacted support when I started the thread, but not heard anything back from them yet.
I could be remembering this wrong, but when i used to plug in my handbrake through the USB adapter this drop down would change the mode. I'm running 440 drivers and right now and I don't see the option.
Not sure if that is related or not, it could be. If support ever answer my ticket I will let you know. How long are support typically taking to answer support requests at the moment?
I usually get a response within a day or two. But then when you respond you can have a day or two for each response.
2 weeks later they haven't bothered with mine. If they don't get back to me in the next day or two they can have the entire last order back. I'm not one to rant, but this is unacceptable.
I'm sorry to hear that. I would follow up until you get a response. I've read a lot of posts like this lately and I've had my own frustrations, but I do love my gear. There's a bit of a love/hate relationship.
Yes, I like the fanatec gear too and would say that it is reliable and solid in general. That reputation they have of offering awful customer service is certainly warranted though as I am finding out. They responded after more than 2 weeks to my support request. They asked for more information, I gave it to them. Over a week later AGAIN, no response.
I am a pretty laid back person, takes a little to rile me up. At the point now where I am just going to send back my last order. I needed support and didn't get it so fanatec can get the stuff back.
