Looks like the cat is out of the bag
Wonder what that is going to cost, but I want one! This is one of the things I was waiting for from Fanatec - nice work!
I’m almost more curious what the QR2 will bring.
But I would love to replace my CSL Mclaren GT3 wheel with something less plastic.
Not Xbox compatible?
No, it does not come with a Xbox Chip so no Xbox compatible.
😎
Care to explain why it's PS4/5 compatible then?
When will we know the price?
Because EVERY steering wheel is ps4 and ps5 compatible on a ps4 and ps5 compatible wheel base because the security Chip is in the base. Xbox needs an expensive security Chip with license in each steering wheel. Pretty clear that those cost can be avoided as this Kind of Wheel is certainly not targeted to console players in the first place as the wheel very likely will cost double or Triple of the console...
I want one :)
But curious about my existing Podium Hub and Formula V2. Will there be some sort of adaptor making the old QR fit the new QR, or will I have to replace the QR on my existing wheels?
Me too, and I’m interested if I can update all QR1 wheels with the new QR to have only one system on the Rig...
Wheels with exchangeable QR can be upgraded, yes. Thats the whole purpose of the exchangeable System.. ;)
Old wheels with a fixed QR obviously can not be upgraded.
Maybe they should implement a chip in the wheel to prevent this wheel from working with the PS4/5 on the PS wheelbases then.\
This is not a toy to use on consoles. ;)
I know well how the Fanatec ecosystem works as I chose Fanatec to be compatible with all my platforms: PC, PS and Xbox.
I only buy PS bases and Xbox steering wheels so everything works on the three platforms.
This one will not be for me but I'm looking foward to the new Xbox wheel Thomas mentioned.
even on the old wheels the QR isn‘t fixed (just 6 screws when I remeber) so some kind of adapter should not be that big of an issue for Fanatec
Also most interested in the QR2 - wonder if it is a complete redesign necessitating a replacement wheelbase shaft? The current one is a nightmare so hoping so - despite the fact that it will mean further expense.
No ITM which is a surprise. And no funky switch which will be - awkward.
I can see the marketing appeal in having the same wheel used in both a car and a sim but it seems like an expensive compromise - sim users are paying for redundant CAN bus electronics as well as the more general fact that sim racing drivers have quite different wheel requirements from real car drivers. Do kind of like it though.
My biggest fear is the boast of new generation USB C upgradeable firmware - Fanatec don't have a great track record with firmware development as everyone here will be aware
I don‘t think it is a nightmare, using the QR since the first CSW. But it is somehow dated and no longer state of the art. But it was first of it‘s kind in simracing. So I‘m pretty sure that you have to replace the shaft on the DD Wheelbase as well, if this is possible for Clubsport or Clubsport light no one knows by now...
I was referring the the DD QR shaft, apologies that wasn't clear. I also had no issues with the old style on the CSW and CSL bases - primitive but worked. The DD one that requires a lock ring and compressible rubber is a mess though - mine is all chewed up - the metal and the rubber, despite it being barely a year old and me hardly ever changing wheel in that time. I had connection issues meaning I am now wheel-less as Fanatec boffins fix it. Hope they put the new one on. :-)
I‘m using my DD1 since launch and changing wheels quite. frequently, no issues at all with the QR shaft. But sorry to hear, that you have problems with it. I hope they fix it in time.
The V2 and 911 Gt3 Wheels are Monsters in contrast to this . Nice Wheel but the Encoders Buttons Design looks like Heat Buttons from an old Ford Fiesta . I hope Fanatec will bring better Gt3 Wheels in Future .The Pergamon 20 real M4 Gt3 Cars in 2022
will the most not have in real at Home that we can use the Can Bus.
