extra parts in Universal Hub?...

I just got my wheel put together and everything, but I'm a little curious about why there are extra parts in this kit. Specifically, there's two small bags that contain part W1 and S2, and I have no idea what those could be used for. Also, when not using a wheel, is it better to keep the collar retracted with the little plastic piece that came with the wheel? Or is it fine to just not use that little part anymore?

Page 9 of the manual explains the parts you have requested.
W1: Spare replacing lever for button boxes and FunkySwitchTM
S2: Sequrity Bolt for the Quick Release (optional) to eliminate possible Flex.
Regarding storage: Its fine to just not use that little plastic part anymore - in fact I never used it on my wheels since 2012 and all are fine... ^^
