Load Cell Pedals unavailable to update firmware when using CSL USB Adapter - please help

I've got CSL pedals and a Load Cell and am wanting to update the firmware. (As I've recently updated the wheel and base with no problems).

I appreciate that the pedals need to be connected directly to the PC and not the base for this update so I bought the suggested CSL USB Adapter (and changed the mode to CSL Pedals). However when connecting this to the PC, only the adapter shows available for a firmware update. (If I plug the adapter into the PC, without the RJ connection to the pedals, it says the adapter is at v1.1 and up to date).

When I then plug in the RJ into the USB adapter, there is no change, it will not detect the Pedals themselves, only the adapter.

I double checked with reviewing the live Pedal Values section and it has no response to any pedal input. In fact, unplugging the adapter and RJ in some instances give a 100% value for Throttle and Clutch, and 0% on brake, even when not touching the pedals.

I've tried to re-connect via the base, and the live Pedal Values work perfectly, only increasing when pedal application is made.

In both connection scenarios (Direct and through base), i've tried going to the Firmware manager, and always get the same comment on the pedals = N/A Clubsport Pedals v3 and CSL elite Pedals LC can only be updated when connected to the PC directly by USB.

I'm stuck, because I thought the USB adapter was for this exact purpose, but it does not seem to be registering the pedals (via USB adapter).

Is there another way I can connect my Pedals to the PC via USB? without using the adapter?

Thanks in advance

  • The USB Adapter is for Analogue Pedals without an LC only and it has a separate Firmware for the different modes it can be operated in. This device is explicitly not for updating pedals because the pedals which are compatible with it simply just do not have their own firmware at all. Pedals themselve can always only be updated when a LC pedal is used as the Firmware is in the electronics Box of that LC pedal.

Hi there! We completely understand your frustration with this issue. It sounds like you’ve already taken the right steps with the CSL USB Adapter and checking the mode settings. However, it seems like the adapter may not be recognizing the pedals properly. We recommend ensuring that the RJ cable is securely connected to both the adapter and pedals, as sometimes even a slight disconnection can cause issues.

If the problem persists, it might be helpful to try using a different USB port on your PC or even testing the adapter on another computer to rule out any software or port-specific issues. Unfortunately, the CSL USB Adapter is required for connecting pedals to the PC directly, so without it, there isn’t another USB method available for updating the pedals at this time. Best, your Fanatec team.

  • Hi Angel.

As I said, the pedals itself can not be updated with the ClubSport USB Adapter because the pedals, which are compatible with it, do not have their own Firmware. They are dumb Analogue Pedals without any Electronics board which could store a firmware.

All you can do with the ClubSport USB Adapter is to run the pedals on a PC without a Fanatec Base. That is it's only purpose. And for that the USB Adapter has 4 different modes which are engaged with the respective Firmware which you flash to the Adapter - not to the Pedals!
